OFSC achieves 3000 contract declarations In the life of the Scheme

We’re thrilled to share that in January, the OFSC achieved a landmark milestone by processing its 3000th contract declaration since the Scheme commenced. Since 2006, we've made over 3000 Government-funded construction projects, worth approximately $250 billion, safer.
At the OFSC, our goal is that everyone goes home safe every day. We’re excited to continue this important work in collaboration with the building and construction industry.
The 3000th contract is the Barwon Women and Children’s in Geelong, Victoria. The more than $500 million Victorian Government project includes $50 million in funding from the Commonwealth Government.
The project will integrate within the existing University Hospital Geelong precinct, and the contemporary and purpose-built spaces will increase its capacity with additional maternity inpatient beds, paediatric multi-day/same day beds, birthing suites, operating theatres and expanded paediatric and maternity specialist (outpatient) facilities. The project will also deliver a new neonatal and parent care unit, and an expansion of the existing special care nursery that provides care for vulnerable and preterm babies in the first few weeks and months of life.
Construction company Built, who have been Scheme accredited since 2010, have been appointed to conduct the work.
The new Barwon Women’s and Children’s is expected to be completed in 2029 and will create and sustain 1,500 construction jobs at the peak of construction.
More than just a number, this milestone represents our unwavering commitment to safety, collaboration, and building for the future. Every contract declaration is a step toward creating safer workplaces and stronger communities. Thank you to all our accredited companies, partners, and stakeholders for making this achievement possible.
Here’s to the next 3000 and beyond!
