First residential builder receives accreditation following Budget boost
The Australian Government is committed to building more social and affordable dwellings as a priority.
The OFSC is supporting these efforts by offering a fast-tracked process for head contract builders tendering for Housing Australia funding. We’ve received a Budget boost to speed up this process and support builders in getting accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme.
Hamilton and Marino are the first residential building company to achieve accreditation since this new process came into effect – congratulations! Hamilton and Marino were accredited in just 5 months under the fast-tracked process.
Two weeks ago, OFSC staff visited the company’s Boyd construction site to learn more about the social housing component of their new apartment complex.
Under the broader Homes for Australia plan, the Australian Government has committed to investing $32 billion to build 1.2 million new homes in the next decade. Building and construction companies like Hamilton and Marino Builders play a pivotal role in the delivery of new residential housing , and the OFSC will ensure employees and contractors working on these homes make it home safely.
Becoming a Scheme accredited company is a significant achievement – our companies have very high standards of safety and lower incident rates. Scheme accreditation also automatically meets prequalification WHS requirements in most Australian states and territories.
