Strong Industry Support for FSC and Scheme – 2020 Census Results

The Federal Safety Commissioner’s 2020 Accreditation Census showed continued strong support for the work of the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner and the value of the WHS Accreditation Scheme.

“COVID-19 has been a challenge for the building and construction industry,” said FSC David Denney. “I’m extremely pleased to see that the operational changes my office made throughout the pandemic were embraced by accredited builders and that the value and impact of the Scheme have remained strong throughout this period.”

Accredited builders reported that the Scheme has improved their individual company safety performance (93%) and the safety performance of the industry as a whole (95%). 87% of companies that responded considered FSC Accreditation to be value for money and would recommend accreditation to other companies.

Commissioner Denney also said it was great to see the strong interest in online educational forums reported through the Census being borne out in our successful Hazard 2020 Safety Campaign webinars, which have been growing in viewership throughout 2021.

See the 2020 FSC Accreditation Census Snapshot for more information. The 2021 Census will be launched in the next quarter for Scheme accredited companies to have their say on the Scheme, the OFSC and their thoughts on safety and the industry moving forward
