ScaffShield wins FSC Safety Award

This year’s Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards were held on Saturday 28 November 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the awards were live streamed on Master Builders Australia's Facebook and YouTube pages.

These annual awards recognise the achievements of the nation’s best builders. The Federal Safety Commissioner is proud to sponsor the National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award (Commercial) award which was won this year by ScaffShield.

ScaffShield is an anti-tamper, locking assembly for scaffolding. According to ScaffShield’s Director, Mr Joel Andonopoulos, ScaffShield is designed to ensure scaffolding can’t be moved or modified by unauthorised personnel on-site, lowering the risk of scaffold collapse or failure.

Federal Safety Commissioner, David Denney, said this award recognises the excellent collaboration by ScaffShield with builders, scaffolders, peak industry bodies, engineering firms, and regulators to develop an innovative and practical control measure for one of the industry’s leading causes of injury. The award is also a timely reminder about possible scaffolding safety risks given it is one of the high-risk hazards being targeted by the OFSC’s Hazard 2020 campaign.

Honorary mention to the other companies who were finalists for the National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award (Commercial). Congratulations to:

  • Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd
  • Vos Construction & Joinery Pty Ltd
  • Lendlease Building Pty Limited (ACT)
